Iheanacho scores again, sets new record in Turkey

Kelechi Iheanacho, a forward for the Super Eagles, kept his amazing scoring streak alive in Turkey. He scored in his 11th straight league match during Bursaspor’s 2-0 win over Pendikspor on Monday.

Iheanacho netted Bursaspor’s second goal in the 62nd minute. This goal secured the win after Halil Akbunar had already given Bursaspor the lead in the 10th minute.

His latest goal shows how important he has become at Bursaspor. Since the season began, he has been one of the most threatening attackers in the league.

Before the match on Monday, the former Manchester City and Leicester City player had scored 14 goals and provided three assists in 10 league matches. His goal against Pendikspor brought his league total to 15, boosting his chances of being one of the top scorers.

Iheanacho, who is 30 years old, is not just scoring goals. He is breaking records with his consistent performance.

He had earlier set a new record for Bursaspor by scoring in nine league matches in a row. He beat the previous club record of eight consecutive games held by Brazilian forward Fernandao from the 2014-15 season.

Iheanacho didn’t stop there. He then moved past the club's record to set a new mark in Turkish football. He broke the nine-match scoring streaks set by Metin Oktay of Galatasaray in the 1962-63 season and Saffet Sancaklı from the 1995-96 season.

Iheanacho reached this milestone after scoring twice in Bursaspor's 3-0 win over Muğlaspor on October 15. This victory pushed his scoring run to 10 consecutive league matches.

The match on Monday against Pendikspor was another chance for him to increase his record. He took that chance, scoring in the 62nd minute to make it 11 league games in a row with a goal.

His scoring streak is a great achievement for the former Premier League player. His sharp finishing and steady performance have made him a key player in Bursaspor’s attack.

With 15 league goals already, Iheanacho aims to keep up this impressive form as the season goes on. His recent success is boosting his reputation in Turkish football.
