INEC shares final list of 122 candidates for Ondo National Assembly

The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ondo State has shared the final list of 122 National Assembly candidates and their political parties for the 2027 general elections.

INEC’s Head of Voter Education and Publicity in the state, Ogunseye Olayinka, announced this in a statement from the INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr Mutiu Agboke, on Sunday in Akure.

Olayinka also mentioned that the names of 18 presidential candidates and their parties were published.

He said this publication followed the commission’s approved timetable for the 2027 general elections. He urged the public, political parties, candidates, and stakeholders to visit INEC offices across the state to check the list.

"31 names with their political parties have been published for the senatorial districts, and 91 names for the House of Representatives as the final list of candidates for the 2027 National Assembly Elections in Ondo State."

"As scheduled, September 12 was set as the last day for the publication of the final list of candidates for the Presidential and National Assembly Elections."

"To meet this timeline, the commission has on this day, published the final list of candidates, according to Section 32(1) of the Electoral Act, 2026."

"This milestone marks a big step in the commission’s preparations for the 2027 Presidential and National Assembly Elections set for January 2027."

"It also shows INEC’s strong commitment to transparency, credibility, and sticking to the electoral timetable leading up to the elections," he added.

Olayinka asked political parties, candidates, and the public to visit all Local Government Area offices of INEC and the state office to see the final list of candidates.

"The public is assured that INEC, Ondo State, under the leadership of the REC, Dr Mutiu Agboke, is dedicated to conducting elections that are free, fair, transparent, credible, and inclusive."

"Nothing will determine the winner of any election other than the votes lawfully cast by the people and properly counted according to the law," he said.
