Inter Miami has signed Brazilian midfielder Carlos Casemiro on a free transfer after he left Manchester United.

The Major League Soccer team announced on its website on Wednesday that Casemiro has signed a contract until the end of the 2027 MLS Sprint Season. There is also an option to extend the deal until June 2029.

His registration is still pending because he needs a P-1 visa.

Casemiro said he was convinced to join Inter Miami because of the club's ambition.

"What motivates me the most, and I think this is true for every player, is winning and continuing to grow. The project the Club presented to me, along with the effort everyone made to bring me here, means a lot to me.

"I’m incredibly grateful, and I can’t wait to get started so I can repay that trust, not only during the 90 minutes on matchday, but every day in training as well.

"All I can say is thank you, and I’ll give everything I have to return the affection and confidence the Club has shown me," he said.

Inter Miami Managing Owner Jorge Mas praised the signing. He said it represents the club's ambition.

"Casemiro’s arrival reflects the vision and ambition that define Inter Miami. We never settle. We’re always looking to grow, improve, and raise our standards every season.

"Casemiro embodies everything this club stands for: leadership, a winning mentality, and an extraordinary track record at the highest level of the game.

"After achieving virtually everything there is to achieve in football, his decision to join Inter Miami shows that he shares our ambition and our commitment to the highest standards as we continue building for the future."

Club co-owner David Beckham also welcomed Casemiro.

"I’m very proud to welcome Casemiro and his family to Inter Miami. He is a person and a player that I have admired for a long time. He is a winner who has achieved so much in the game and after such an incredible career with Real Madrid and Manchester United, I’m delighted that he’s decided to make Miami his next home," Beckham said.

The 34-year-old joins Inter Miami after three seasons at Manchester United. He won the English League Cup and the FA Cup there.

Before his time in England, Casemiro had a successful eight-year spell at Real Madrid. He won five UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, three FIFA Club World Cups, three UEFA Super Cups, one Copa del Rey, and three Spanish Super Cups.

During his time at Real Madrid, he made 336 appearances, scoring 31 goals and providing 29 assists.

Casemiro has also played 91 times for Brazil. He won the 2019 Copa América and played in the 2018, 2022, and 2026 FIFA World Cups.

At the 2026 World Cup, he started all five of Brazil’s matches. He scored once in the Round of 32 and provided an assist in the Round of 16.

With this move, Casemiro becomes the latest big-name player to join Inter Miami as the MLS side looks to strengthen its squad.
