Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is in high demand. Manchester United and Arsenal are both interested in signing him before the summer transfer window closes, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
United have reached out to Galatasaray to ask about bringing Osimhen to their squad. But this does not mean they have made a bid or that a transfer is imminent.
This interest comes as manager Michael Carrick gets his team ready for the 2026/27 Premier League season. United will kick off their campaign away against Hull City on Saturday, August 22.
Arsenal seems to be closer to a deal. The Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast reports that an offer over £60m might convince Galatasaray to sell. The Gunners are said to have asked about Osimhen’s availability during talks about a potential move for Gabriel Martinelli. But any deal for Osimhen would be separate from that.
Osimhen, who is 27 years old, is one of the top forwards in Europe. He had a great season in Istanbul, scoring 28 goals and assists in 33 games last season. He has already started the new season well, netting twice in Galatasaray’s Super Lig opener against Çorum FK.
Galatasaray bought Osimhen from Napoli for €75m in July 2025. They gave him a four-year contract that runs until 2029. The deal guarantees him a net salary of €15m per year, a €1m loyalty bonus, and €5m annually for image rights. Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek confirmed there is no release clause in the contract. This means any interested club must negotiate directly with the Turkish club.
Reports suggest that Galatasaray wants about €150m for Osimhen. They have already turned down a €130m offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal. If Arsenal manages to secure a £60m deal, Osimhen could become their highest-paid player, as he currently earns over £300,000 a week in Turkey.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said the team will stay active in the transfer market. He wants to strengthen the squad. He said, “There is more that we want to do because every time we have an opportunity to improve the squad and bring more quality and depth to the squad, we need to do that. We are actively trying to do so. The thing in the market is that it doesn’t just depend on you. We are very clear on that.”
On the other hand, United has already made some signings this summer, adding Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos to their squad. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo, and Benjamin Sesko are also part of United's attacking options.
United finished third in the Premier League last season and qualified for the Champions League. But they have concerns about the striker position. Sesko is currently injured, and Marcus Rashford's future is unclear after loan spells at Aston Villa and Barcelona. United's preparations took a hit with a 4-2 loss to Ruben Amorim’s AC Milan in their last pre-season match.
Osimhen has not ignored the growing rumors about his transfer. After scoring in Galatasaray’s league opener, he told reporters in Turkey, “There are always rumours in transfer seasons. I will take care of my business. I am focused on my job, then we will see and think further.”
