Premier League winner Tim Sherwood has named Alex Iwobi as one of the most underrated players in the English Premier League. This came after Iwobi's goal helped Fulham beat Hull City 1-0 on Saturday.

Sherwood, who won the title with Blackburn Rovers in 1995 and later managed Tottenham Hotspur, shared his thoughts on Sky Sports after the match at Craven Cottage.

“Iwobi must be one of the most underrated players in the Premier League,” he said. “The amount of games he churns out, the different positions he plays. He was excellent today. He was the goal scorer, but he was absolutely fantastic today,” he added.

Iwobi scored in the 33rd minute after Sander Berge set him up. Hull City struggled to clear their lines twice before Iwobi's shot deflected and went under goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

The 30-year-old former Arsenal and Everton midfielder had not scored or assisted in six league games, even though he created 13 chances during that time. This goal was his first of the season, bringing his total to 36 Premier League goals in 327 appearances, putting him level with Peter Odemwingie among Nigerian players.

The win was Fulham’s first of the season and also the first for manager Alvaro Arbeloa. This victory moved them off the bottom of the table. Fellow Super Eagles players Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi were on the pitch for Fulham and Hull respectively.
