The Jigawa State Police have arrested three suspected drug dealers and seized 5,676 pieces of different suspected illicit drugs in a series of raids across the state.

According to a statement on Wednesday from the Police Public Relations Officer, Lawan Adam, the suspects are Umar Rabiu, also known as Sarka, 22, from Unguwar Gamji; Auwalu Muhammad, 25, from Gusau Quarters; and Umar Akilu, 25, from Kuka Village.

The PPRO said these operations are part of the command’s ongoing efforts to fight the sale, distribution, and use of illegal drugs.

“The operations, which are part of the Command’s ongoing efforts to fight the sale, distribution, and use of illegal drugs, led to the recovery of 5,676 pieces of different suspected illicit drugs from the suspects,” the statement said.

The seized items included 3,833 tablets of Exol, 204 tablets of tramadol, 919 tablets of diazepam, 114 capsules of pregabalin, 101 tubes of rubber solution, 30 Lara capsules, codeine syrup, two litres of ‘Suck and Die,’ and one block along with 475 wraps of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.

The police also found N93,626, which they believe is money made from the illegal drug trade.

The Commissioner of Police, Haruna Alaba Yahaya, praised the officers for their professionalism and commitment to stopping drug trafficking.

“The abuse and illegal trade of narcotic substances lead to violent crimes and social issues, especially among young people,” he said.

The commissioner warned anyone involved in selling, distributing, or using banned drugs to stop or face serious consequences.

“The command will keep increasing intelligence-led operations to break down drug networks and make sure offenders are punished,” he added.

The statement also mentioned that the suspects have been taken to court.
