England defender John Stones has joined Inter Milan on a free transfer. The Italian club announced this news on Thursday. Stones spent ten years at Manchester City before this move.

The 32-year-old left City when his contract expired at the end of last month. During that time, he was also playing for England at the World Cup, where the team finished in third place.

Stones has signed a two-year deal with Inter Milan, according to a club statement. He played five times for England in the recent World Cup held in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. His last match was the semi-final loss to Argentina, marking his 94th international cap.

At Manchester City, Stones was a crucial player during their successful years under former manager Pep Guardiola. He helped the club win six Premier League titles, three FA Cups, three League Cups, and a Champions League trophy.

In his last few seasons at the Etihad Stadium, injuries affected his playtime. Last season, he only managed to appear in nine Premier League matches.

Stones may make his debut for Inter Milan when they begin their title defence against Monza at the San Siro on August 22.
