Maja completes Le Havre move

Josh Maja has officially joined Ligue 1 club Le Havre on a free transfer. The Super Eagles shared this news on their X account on Friday, as reported by PUNCH Sports Extra.

“Josh Maja has joined Ligue 1 side Le Havre from West Brom. Wishing him all the best in this new chapter,” @SSE_NGA tweeted.

The 27-year-old was a free agent after leaving West Bromwich Albion last month. His contract had ended, and he turned down a new deal from the club.

He will sign a two-year contract with Le Havre, which includes an option for an extra year. The club sees him as an important player for their attack after Issa Soumare moved to Rennes.

This transfer marks Maja's return to French football. He previously played for Bordeaux, where he scored 29 goals in 93 games.

Maja spent three years at West Brom, netting 19 goals in all competitions. Last season, he had a limited role in the Championship, scoring four league goals in forty matches.

In total, Maja has scored 81 goals in 291 games for both club and country.

He started his career at Sunderland and has one cap for the Super Eagles. He earned this cap in a friendly match against Ukraine in 2019, which ended in a 2-2 draw under coach Gernot Rohr.

Le Havre narrowly avoided relegation last season. They hope Maja can score the goals needed to keep them safe this season. Maja is also looking to revive his career in a league where he has done well before.
