The Kaduna State Government has rejected a letter going around on social media. This letter claims that Governor Uba Sani approved and released N2.3 trillion for the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 presidential campaign in Kaduna. The government called the document a fake, misleading, and a plan to damage the Governor’s good name for responsible spending and governance.
In a statement from the Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, the government said the letter, dated 18 October 2026, and titled “Notification for Preparations for the Grand Rally Flag Off,” is just a made-up story. It has many inconsistencies that make it hard to believe.
The letter claims to be from Governor Uba Sani to Senator Abdulazeez Yari, who is the Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council. It falsely states that the Governor set aside and released N2.3 trillion for the campaign kick-off set for Saturday, 24 October 2026.
Maiyaki pointed out that the whole 2026 Kaduna State budget is only N985.92 billion. This makes the supposed N2.3 trillion claim more than double the state’s yearly budget. He said this claim is financially impossible and has no real budget approval or spending records to back it up.
He also noted clear mistakes in the fake letter, such as misspelling the Governor’s surname as “Uba Sai.” The way the document is presented also raises more doubts about its trustworthiness. The government is worried about the use of the Governor’s signature without permission.
“The Kaduna State Government strongly rejects this document. Governor Uba Sani did not write or approve this letter, and no N2.3 trillion was budgeted, approved or released for the presidential campaign kick-off. This claim is completely false and is a clear attempt to mislead the public,” Maiyaki said.
The Commissioner pointed out that since he took office on 29 May 2023, Governor Uba Sani has shown he is committed to wise spending, transparency, accountability, and good management of public resources. He has focused on security, infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social support.
He explained that the administration’s way of managing money is seen in its big infrastructure projects, increased funding for agriculture, fixing public institutions, paying off old pension debts, and expanding social support programs to help Kaduna residents.
Maiyaki expressed worry about a growing trend of false information aimed at discrediting the Governor and his team before the 2027 elections. He warned that making fake government letters is a crime and should be punished.
“Political competition should happen in the spirit of truth, decency, and lawfulness. Creating fake government documents and spreading false financial claims is not acceptable as political debate. Those who want to hold the government accountable must use real evidence, not fake papers,” he said.
The Commissioner revealed that they are working to find out where the fake letter came from. He urged security and investigative agencies to look into the document and take action against anyone found guilty of forgery or impersonation.
He called on the public and media to be careful with unverified documents, stressing that any claims about public spending should be properly checked and verified before being published.
Maiyaki confirmed that Governor Uba Sani is focused on maintaining peace, strengthening public institutions, speeding up infrastructure development, and improving citizens’ welfare. He said the administration will stay committed to wise financial management, clear governance, and long-term progress.
