The Kaduna State Government has organized events for Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary. They held special prayers for peace, stability, and economic growth. Contractors also praised Governor Uba Sani for starting a monthly payment plan to settle debts from the previous administration.
The special prayers took place at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna after the Friday prayers. The Secretary to the State Government, AbdulKadir Mu’azu Meyere, senior government officials, and Muslim faithful attended the event.
Malam Abdullahi Aliyu, the mosque’s Deputy Chief Imam, led the prayers. He prayed for peace and stability for both Nigeria and Kaduna State.
The cleric asked for wisdom and guidance for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in managing the country and the state.
Mr Aliyu urged political leaders and citizens to value trust, truthfulness, and integrity. He said these values are key for national growth.
He reminded leaders that political positions and power are temporary. Those in authority will be accountable for their actions.
“God tests us with trust, our wealth, our families, and the positions He has given us, whether big or small, to see how we will manage them, whether or not we will act with honesty, truthfulness and fairness,” he said.
The Deputy Chief Imam stressed that the need for trust and honesty applies to both governance and business.
He added that those who keep trust can be rewarded in this life, but breaking trust can have serious consequences.
“No matter how long a person lives, he will leave everything behind, and only his good deeds will accompany him to the grave,” he said.
In another development, Ahmed Baba, Chairman of the Contractors Association of Kaduna State, praised Governor Uba Sani for the monthly payment plan to settle verified debts from the previous administration.
Mr Baba made his comments after a meeting with senior state officials and the association’s leadership in Kaduna.
He noted that Mr Sani inherited a significant debt but showed that government continues by addressing payments owed to contractors from prior projects.
He said the monthly payment plan will help the government clear verified debts while easing the financial pressure on contractors.
“Despite inheriting a huge burden of outstanding liabilities, His Excellency has demonstrated true leadership. He has made it clear that government is a continuum and that contractors must not suffer for their service to the state.
“The monthly payment structure that the Governor has approved is a lifeline to many of our members,” he stated.
Mr Baba also mentioned that contractors working on projects from the current administration have not faced payment issues since Mr Sani took office.
He called this progress encouraging for the construction sector and promised the association’s support for the administration’s infrastructure projects.
He urged contractors to ensure quality and deliver projects on time across the state.
The Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki, said the special prayers are part of the events for Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary.
He announced that there would be an inter-denominational church service at Living Faith Church, Barnawa, on Sunday. The Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, James Kanyip, will represent the governor at the service.
According to him, the activities will conclude with an official Independence Day parade at Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, on Thursday, October 1, and it will be led by Governor Uba Sani.
