Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has told President Bola Tinubu that Northern Nigeria will support his re-election in the 2027 elections.

Yusuf made this promise on Saturday in Abuja during the opening of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) campaign office. He said he would gather support for the President throughout the region.

In a statement released on Saturday by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the Director-General of Media and Publicity at the Kano Government House, the governor mentioned that the movement would organize political engagement and support ahead of the elections.

“I can guarantee the President that the North will support his second-term ambition,” Yusuf said. He added that Kano would play a major role in this support effort.

“Kano, as the state with the highest number of votes in Northern Nigeria, would, in sha Allah, lead all Nigerian states to secure victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, with a massive turnout in favour of the APC,” Yusuf said.

Vice-President's Remarks

At the event, Vice-President Kashim Shettima said that political support needs to come with accountability, good governance, and real results that will help Nigerians.

“We acknowledge the economic challenges facing citizens and stress the need for the administration to respond to their concerns while prioritising security, education, poverty reduction and economic opportunities,” Shettima said.

The A4A movement aims to organize support for Tinubu and Shettima across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. Former Minister of Defence Badaru Abubakar will be the national coordinator.
