The Ondo State Police have arrested a 27-year-old man named Solomon Onaola. He is accused of defiling a 15-year-old girl in Omifon, located in the Odigbo Local Government Area.
The police shared this information in a statement on Tuesday. The statement was from the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
Jimoh stated that the case was first reported at the Odigbo Divisional Police Station. It was later moved to the Gender Based Offences Unit for a detailed investigation.
"Preliminary investigation revealed that on 2nd August 2026, the guardian of the victim reported to the police. The 15-year-old girl, who was working as a domestic help in her household, had left home without permission several times.
"When the girl was asked about her whereabouts during these times, she said that Solomon Onaola had been taking her to his late mother’s house in Omifon. There, he allegedly had unlawful sexual intercourse with her," Jimoh explained.
After the report was made, police began their investigation and arrested the suspect. The girl is now in safe care, and the police are following the proper procedures for cases involving sexual offences against minors.
The Commissioner of Police for Ondo State, Felix Ohagwu, has directed the Gender Based Offences Unit to carry out a complete and professional investigation. This is to ensure that all facts are established and that justice is served.
The police have also emphasized their commitment to protecting children and vulnerable people from sexual abuse and other forms of violence. They urged parents and guardians to stay alert, watch over the children in their care, and report any suspected abuse to the police.
The suspect is still in police custody and will face charges in court once the investigations are completed.
