Police arrest 17-year-old for defiling three-year-old girl in Oyo

Oyo State Police have arrested a 17-year-old boy named Usman Dauda. He is accused of defiling a 3-year-old girl in Saki.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Olayinka Ayanlade, shared this news in Ibadan on Thursday.

Ayanlade said the police got a distress call at the Saki Divisional Station on September 17, 2026, around 6pm. This was after the child went missing.

A search led to finding her along the roadside in distress. Initial inquiries showed that Usman had taken her into his home to commit the crime.

Detectives quickly visited the crime scene. They arrested the suspect and collected important evidence linked to the case.

The statement noted, "In its effort to fight gender-based violence and crimes against women and vulnerable people, operatives of the Oyo Police Command have arrested a 17-year-old male, one Usman Dauda, for allegedly defiling a 3-year-old girl in Saki."

The statement continued, "This breakthrough followed a distress report lodged at the Saki Divisional Station on September 17, 2026, at about 1800hrs, after the child went missing while being picked up from school earlier that day."

A search led to her recovery along the roadside in a state of distress. It was revealed that Usman had taken her into his apartment to commit the act.

Detectives acted fast and secured the crime scene. They arrested the suspect and collected key evidence. The young survivor was taken to a medical facility in Saki for treatment and psychological care.

The police command emphasized its strong stance against child abuse and sexual violence.

Ayanlade said, "Furthermore, in line with the Child Rights Act, the privacy, dignity, and identity of the survivor and her family will be fully protected during this process."

He added, "To ensure justice is served, the case has been moved to the Gender Desk at the State Criminal Investigation Department in Iyaganku, Ibadan, for thorough investigation and prosecution."

The police assured the public of their commitment to safety. They urged everyone to stay alert and report any violence against children or vulnerable persons to the nearest police station.
