The police in Oyo State have arrested a man who allegedly came all the way from Anambra State to take revenge for his brother’s death. They found a pistol and a cartridge on him during the arrest.

Police officers from the Safer Highway Patrol stopped him during a routine check on Ife Road while he was in a commercial bus. The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, shared this information in a TikTok video on Friday.

Olayinka stated that the suspect's answers during questioning showed he had come to Oyo State to carry out a revenge killing for his brother. The police arrested him after they discovered the gun and ammunition.

In a video of the suspect being questioned, he shared his story. He said he was working in Benue State when he got the news that his brother had died at a school in Oka, allegedly killed by someone.

"I was working in Benue State. My brother was in school in Awka. I had information that he just died in the school. That somebody killed him in the school," he said.

The suspect mentioned that he returned home after the news but faced more tragedy when he lost his mother a few weeks later.

"A few weeks after my brother died, my mother also died," he added.

He then explained that he heard the person he believed was responsible for his brother’s death was in Oyo State. This news pushed him to go find that person.

"Last month, I had information that the boy is living in a state, Yoruba State. I said I will find out that place where he is living," the suspect said.

During the questioning, he confirmed he was on his way to Oyo State when the police caught him. When asked where he got the gun, he said he bought it from a friend for ₦20,000.

"I bought it from my friend. I don’t know, maybe he’s a hunter," he explained.

The suspect also admitted to being part of the Vikings’ confraternity when asked about his cult membership.

"Yes, the Vikings," he answered.

However, when asked if his late brother was in a cult, the suspect said he could not say for sure since he was not with his brother in school.

"Maybe he belongs, maybe he does not belong because I was not there with him. I was not in the same school with him," he said.

Olayinka stated that the suspect is under investigation to find out more about his connections and the circumstances of the incident.
