Morayo Brown's husband shares story of premarital abstinence request from mother-in-law

Morayo and Femi celebrated 15 years of marriage on their show in February.

In a video from the episode that surfaced on Friday, Femi shared how Morayo’s mother asked him to wait until marriage to have sex with her daughter.

“Morayo’s mum called me privately and pleaded with me, ‘Do not have sex with your girlfriend until you get married,” the lawyer said.

Femi said this request impacted his choice to stay away from premarital sex. He wanted to honour God and saw his decision as obedience.

“I’m not trying to protect her, but I’m just trying to honour God that if you are able to do that, when you get married, there are certain demands to be able to place on God because you have obeyed that rule not to have premarital sex that a lot of people who didn’t wouldn’t be able to make,” he explained.

He said that conversation pushed him to remain abstinent until marriage.

“So it was on that baseline I just decided that, okay, if truly God is going to do something because we did not have sex before marriage, well, let me just take a chance. Not as if I’ve never had sex before, it’s not such a big deal,” he said.

Femi confirmed he stuck to his decision and did not have sex with Morayo until they were married.

“So I just decided to hold on and I held on, and we did not have sex till we got married,” he said.

According to him, they tied the knot on January 19, 2011, after keeping to their choice to abstain from premarital sex.

“We got married on the 19th of January 2011,” Femi stated.

He added that their marriage was blessed with children, revealing they had their fourth child just a year after their wedding.

“Without premarital sex, we had a fourth child by the 18th of January 2012. So there was no moment of waiting,” he said.

This couple’s story comes as they celebrate 15 years of marriage. Femi reflected on their choice to abstain before the wedding and the influence of Morayo’s mother on that decision.
