Real Madrid coach José Mourinho has denied making comments about Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF). He called the reports circulating in the media “fake news.”
Mourinho was said to have made statements about the tensions between Ronaldo and the Portugal national team. But, in a post by football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X, Mourinho firmly rejected these claims. He said: “Too much fake news on my comments about Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese Federation. I did not make any comment.”
This clarification comes as Ronaldo's relationship with the national team is under more scrutiny. This follows his sudden departure from the team's training camp in Copenhagen before the UEFA Nations League match against Denmark.
Ronaldo left after questions about his role with Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus. The 41-year-old forward was on the bench during Portugal’s 2, 1 win over Norway and then missed a training session.
Ronaldo has said he will explain why he left the camp at a later time.
