Portugal's captain Cristiano Ronaldo has said he is leaving the national team training camp. He made this announcement after talking with the president of the Portuguese Football Federation.
The experienced forward explained that his decision came after a press conference held by the national team coach. He did not share the exact reasons for leaving right away.
According to a football transfer expert on Wednesday, Ronaldo said, "After the National Team coach’s press conference, and following a conversation with the President of the Portuguese Football Federation, I have decided to leave the National Team training camp."
The 41-year-old promised to share his reasons later. He stressed that his commitment to Portugal has always been strong.
“In due time, I will tell all Portuguese people the truth about the reasons that led to my departure from the national team, to which I have always dedicated myself,” he mentioned.
Ronaldo also took a moment to wish the national team and his teammates good luck after deciding to leave the camp. “Now is the time to wish good luck to Portugal and to all my teammates,” he said.
His announcement comes as Portugal is getting ready for its upcoming international matches. Ronaldo's exit is likely to attract a lot of attention as the team prepares for its next games.
