Dr Lanre Glover, who heads the Nigeria Basketball Federation Electoral Committee, has announced that the deadline for submitting nomination forms for NBBF board positions is today, October 8, at 2pm.
Glover emphasized that this date and time are very important. He said the submission deadline is a key rule for the NBBF elections. He urged candidates to follow this rule, warning that the committee will not accept anyone who does not meet the deadline.
He mentioned that a detailed timetable for the elections has already been shared. Stakeholders and basketball fans are looking forward to the elections that will bring in a new board to manage basketball in Nigeria.
Glover assured everyone that the committee is committed to making the election process smooth. The NBBF elective congress is set to take place in Abuja on October 15.
The Electoral Committee was formed during the federation’s Extraordinary Congress in Yola, Adamawa State. At that meeting, 39 out of 44 delegates agreed on a team of skilled professionals, experts, and experienced sports administrators.
Alongside Glover, the committee includes Sr Femi Olugbile, Alhaji Sani Fema, Engr Priscilla Ngozi Iroaganachi, Major General David Lubo, and Mallam Farouk Yarima. Barrister Ichene Kalu is the secretary of the committee.
The election timeline shared by the committee is as follows: call for nominations on September 30; deadline for nomination submission is October 8 at 2pm; announcement of qualified candidates on October 10; and the start of the elective congress in Abuja on October 15 at 9am.
