The Kano State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has asked its members to stay calm. This comes after the name of their governorship candidate, Aminu Abdussalam-Gwarzo, was left out of the INEC list released on Saturday.
Yusif Fasaha, the party’s Public Relations Officer, shared this message in a statement available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kano.
"I want to assure you that as the PRO of the party, the problem is not from us."
He explained that they have spoken to INEC. The electoral body told them the issue was due to a computer error and they will fix it.
"So, everybody should remain calm; as from now to Monday, another list containing his name will be out," he added.
Fasaha also mentioned that Abdussalam-Gwarzo has met all election requirements. He said, "everything was done at the right time."
He said they have seen the list and will keep discussing the issue. NAN noted that the list includes 17 gubernatorial candidates and their running mates from various political parties.
Governor Abba Yusuf's name appeared on the list as the APC candidate, along with his deputy, Murtala Sule-Garo.
