The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, has asked the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to quickly restore the names of NDC candidates left out of the final candidate list for the 2027 general elections.

Mr Dickson, who used to be the governor of Bayelsa State, made this request in a post on his Facebook page on Thursday night.

“We urge INEC to remedy this apparent omission promptly,” he said.

Reports show that the NDC governorship candidates in Kano, Kaduna, and Cross River States were not included in the final list published by INEC last Saturday.

The NDC leadership said this omission was due to an error.

‘We’re working hard to fix the issue’

In his Facebook post, Mr Dickson, who is also the Bayelsa West senator, mentioned that the NDC is working hard to fix the omission.

“Our candidates and supporters are assured that the party has been working diligently and has taken adequate steps to address the cases of those whose names were not published by INEC a few days ago,” he said.

“All affected candidates registered with the party before the statutory 21-day period required by law.”

Mr Dickson emphasized that the NDC put forward qualified candidates, from the presidential candidate to those in state houses of assembly, who, he argued, “emerged through a rigorous and painstaking screening process.”

“We are confident that INEC will correct this omission without delay,” he stated.

Mr Dickson added that consultations and campaigns would continue in all states while the NDC keeps talking with INEC about the missing names of its candidates.

“We will continue to fight without giving up until we are victorious,” he insisted.
