Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani is making big moves to improve healthcare in the state. A new Cardiac Centre has been completed in Tudun Wada, Kaduna South Local Government Area.
This centre is a partnership between the Kaduna State Government and the Muslim World League (MWL). The Secretary General of the League, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, will officially open it on Tuesday.
Malam Tahir Umar Tahir, the Director General of the Kaduna State Interfaith Bureau, shared that the centre will offer advanced diagnosis, treatment, and care for heart-related issues. This will help many patients in Kaduna and surrounding areas.
He added that the facility aims to cut down the number of Nigerians who travel abroad for heart treatment. The centre will accept patients from all religious backgrounds.
"The Cardiac Centre will provide advanced cardiovascular diagnosis, treatment, and care, which will substantially stem the tide of patients seeking medical treatment abroad," Mr Tahir said.
He mentioned that this project is part of a larger effort by the state government to improve access to quality healthcare. The goal is to boost specialized medical services in Kaduna.
The Uba Sani administration has been active since taking office. They have renovated and equipped all 255 Primary Healthcare Centres in the state, raising them to Level 2 status.
They have also increased access to healthcare for mothers, newborns, children, and teenagers. They have improved routine immunization, disease tracking, community outreach, and emergency response.
The government is backing the Basic Health Care Provision Fund and expanding health insurance through the Kaduna State Contributory Health Management Authority.
Malam Tahir noted that the state is also revamping its secondary healthcare system. General hospitals are getting upgrades, and new medical equipment is being bought to enhance diagnostic abilities.
He said the administration is focused on hiring healthcare workers in different areas. They are planning the workforce better, supporting training, and building capacity.
The government has maintained the Consolidated Medical Salary Structure (CONMESS) for doctors and the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS) for other health professionals.
They have also been regularly funding the Medical Residency Training Fund. According to Mr Tahir, this shows the administration's commitment to training the next generation of specialist doctors in the state.
The opening of the Cardiac Centre will add to Kaduna’s specialized healthcare facilities. This follows the opening of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Specialist Hospital, which President Bola Tinubu commissioned in June 2025.
The new centre is expected to work alongside other tertiary healthcare institutions in the state. It will give residents better access to specialized heart services.
