Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State has named Richard Agu as the new commissioner for transport in the state.
Chidiebere Onyia, the Secretary to the Enugu State Government, shared this news in a statement on Wednesday.
"In line with the law, his name has been sent to the Enugu State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation," the SSG, a professor, said.
Mr Agu is a lawyer and currently the chairman of Enugu Air, which is the state's airline.
He will take over from Obi Ozor, who was recently removed from the transport commissioner role.
Sources say his removal may be connected to an alleged fraud investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
The Enugu State Government reportedly filed a complaint with the EFCC regarding the alleged fraud against the former commissioner.
Insiders mentioned that Mr Ozor was asked to resign, even though the EFCC did not find him guilty of any financial wrongdoing.
During the investigation, Mr Ozor and his wife were reportedly arrested and held at the EFCC office in Enugu for about two days.
Mr Ozor was appointed as commissioner for transport in 2023.
