Nigeria’s Junior Female Yellow Greens have made it to the ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup for the second time in a row. They beat Zimbabwe by four runs in Tanzania on Saturday.
Nigeria won the toss and chose to bat first. They scored 98 runs for six wickets in their 20 overs. Zimbabwe could only manage 94 runs before being bowled out with one ball left in their innings, giving Nigeria the win.
This victory secured Nigeria’s spot alongside South Africa as Africa’s representatives at the 2027 ICC U-19 Women’s T20 World Cup. The tournament will be co-hosted by Nepal and Bangladesh.
The Junior Female Yellow Greens had their first chance to play in the tournament in 2025. They also defeated Zimbabwe in the African qualifier back then. In the 2025 World Cup held in Malaysia, they finished in sixth place.
