Nigeria, Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Nigeria A will compete in the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series from September 21 to 27, 2026. The matches will take place at the TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos, according to PUNCH Sports Extra.
The Nigeria Cricket Federation announced this new tournament on Saturday as part of efforts to expand the country’s cricket calendar.
Nigeria will have two teams in the competition. The Yellow Greens plan to use this series to prepare for upcoming international games.
The Yellow Greens are currently in camp with their new high-performance manager, Stephen Mangongo. He was introduced in May after signing a three-year contract with the Nigeria Cricket Federation.
Mangongo took over from Kenyan coach Steve Tikolo, who left the position earlier this year after more than three years.
This series will be Mangongo’s second assignment with Nigeria. His first was during the Namibia Tri-Series in June.
The T20 Quadrangular Series will also help the Yellow Greens get ready for the 2028 T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional C Qualifier. This qualifier is scheduled for Abuja from October 18 to 25.
In this year’s qualifier, the Yellow Greens will compete against Gambia, Lesotho, Mozambique, Uganda, and Zambia. The six countries will fight for the top two spots.
The two teams that succeed will go to the regional final next year. There, they will compete for a chance to qualify for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2028 in Australia and New Zealand.
In the end, the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifier 2027 will give two teams a direct path to the 2028 global event.
