Nigeria wins against Nigeria A in T20 Series

Nigeria bounced back from their earlier loss to Nigeria A. They beat their fellow Nigerians by two wickets in the Nigeria T20 Quadrangular Series at TBS Cricket Oval in Lagos on Friday.

Chasing a target of 113 runs, Nigeria scored 113 for eight in 19.1 overs. They sealed the win with five balls to go, making up for the 19-run loss to the same team earlier in the tournament.

Nigeria A could only manage 112 runs in their 20 overs after being sent in to bat. This result narrows the gap between the two teams to one point, with two matches left for each side in the series.

Nigeria A is still at the top of the table with three wins from three matches before Friday’s game. Nigeria and Sierra Leone both have three points, while Ghana is yet to score any points.

The teams include a mix of national players and upcoming talents. Nigeria is preparing for the 2028 T20 World Cup qualifiers next month. They are using the Quadrangular Series as part of their training for the 2028 T20 World Cup Africa Sub-Regional C Qualifier, which will take place in Abuja from October 18 to 25.

The national team has been in camp under high-performance manager Stephen Mangongo. He was introduced in May after signing a three-year deal with the Nigeria Cricket Federation. He took over from Kenyan coach Steve Tikolo, who left the position earlier this year after more than three years in charge.
