Nigerian-born mental health nurse and social media star, Bemi Orojuogun, known as “London Bus Aunty”, appeared with the UK’s new Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, in a video about a new £2 cap on bus fares across England.
The video was shared by Burnham on his Instagram on Wednesday. It quickly went viral, highlighting Orojuogun’s rise as one of London’s well-known content creators.
Burnham wrote while sharing the clip, “And if a double-decker bus…”, tagging Orojuogun in the post.
Orojuogun also shared the video, saying, “Very good news! Today, the Prime Minister has announced a cap on all bus fares in England to £2.”
Burnham responded to her post with a playful comment, saying, “Rebranding as Bus Andy.”
In the video, the Prime Minister stated, “For too long, people said it’s not possible to reduce bus fares. Well, we showed everybody in Greater Manchester that it is possible. And today, I’m taking the £2 fare cap national.”
As he introduced Orojuogun, he said, “Who better, though, to endorse this policy than a special guest…”
Orojuogun replied jokingly, “Oh, Prime Minister, you’re stealing my job!”
Burnham laughed and said, “Cheaper bus fares, endorsed by Bus Aunty herself!”
Orojuogun responded, “It’s a fantastic idea. Thank you so much, Prime Minister.”
This moment is another achievement for the Nigerian creator. Her videos about London’s famous red double-decker buses have changed her from a social media novelty to an internationally recognized influencer.
PUNCH Online reported earlier that Orojuogun has lived in the UK for over thirty years. She became famous in 2024 with her unique videos. In them, she smiles while filming passing London buses from the roadside using special camera techniques.
Her content has gained over 200,000 followers on TikTok and more than 20,000 on Instagram. This has led to partnerships with Transport for London, Burberry, JBL Audio UK, Jacquemus, City Sightseeing, and London Mayor Sadiq Khan during the city’s zero-emission buses campaign.
Earlier this year, she was nominated for Video of the Year at the TikTok UK Awards 2025. This nomination confirmed her place as one of the most recognizable Nigerian creators on the platform.
Orojuogun, known as “London Bus Aunty” by her fans, has built a social media brand around her love for London’s buses, attracting attention worldwide.
