The United States has sent back a Nigerian man, Ayodeji Ajayi, after he was found guilty of several crimes, including domestic violence. This is part of the US government's ongoing efforts to enforce immigration laws.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) revealed this in a statement on its official X account on Tuesday. They said Ajayi had been living in the US illegally since arriving on a student visa almost 20 years ago.

ICE explained, “Ayodeji Olamide Ajayi, of Nigeria, entered the United States in 2007 on a student visa and eventually left school, but failed to leave the country.”

Instead of returning home after dropping out of school, Ajayi built a long list of criminal offenses.

ICE noted, “Instead, he stayed in the US and got to work on a lengthy rap sheet” that includes convictions for domestic violence, trespassing, intimidation, and obstruction.

His criminal record also includes serious charges like “kidnapping, rape, and family neglect.”

The agency linked his deportation to the immigration policies of President Donald Trump. They stated, “Thanks to @POTUS’ commitment to getting criminal illegal aliens out of this country, Ajayi will be leaving the United States shortly.”

While the agency shared that Ajayi would be deported, they did not say when this would happen. They also did not provide more details about his crimes, such as where they took place or the status of other charges against him.

This deportation happens during the Trump administration’s strong push against undocumented immigrants with criminal records. Immigration authorities have increased their enforcement actions and removals all over the United States.
