The Niger State Police Command has confirmed that they found nine bodies on the Wawa-Lumma road in Borgu Local Government Area of Niger State.

The victims are believed to have been killed by bandits while traveling on that road.

SP Wasiu Abiodun, the spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, shared this news with the News Agency of Nigeria on Wednesday in Minna. He said that a team of police and military personnel went to recover the bodies after they got the information on Tuesday.

He noted that operations have increased to secure the area from any further security issues. "Police and military tactical teams were mobilised to the scene; the bodies recovered, while clearance operation was intensified to secure the area," he said.

This incident happened just days after security agencies rescued 308 people who were kidnapped in separate attacks in Kwara and Niger states.

Out of the 308 rescued victims, 163 were taken from Woro Community in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State. The other 145 were kidnapped in a different attack in Niger State.

The victims were saved from the Kainji Lake National Park forest in New Bussa Local Government Area of Niger State. This rescue was part of a coordinated operation led by intelligence, involving the National Counter-Terrorism Centre, the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services, and the Nigeria Police Force.
