Nkechi Blessing Says She'll Return to Acting After Boxing Match

Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has announced she will go back to acting after her boxing debut against reality TV star Phyna.

Blessing lost the match by knockout but called her first time in the ring a brave effort. She said she only trained for two days before the fight.

“Still a CHAMPION regardless of the result… even the blind knows who the winner is,” the actress wrote in an Instagram post on Friday.

“Now let’s go back to making movies cus I no be boxer.”

Even though she lost, Blessing said she is open to another boxing match.

“Will I do this again? OH YES,” she wrote in another post, sharing her thoughts on stepping into the ring for the first time.

The actress mentioned she had never fought anyone before this match. She stood on the unfamiliar stage with bravery and “fought like a warrior.”

Blessing dedicated the fight to her late mother, Gloria Obasi Sunday. She wanted her mother to be there and requested her favorite song to be played before she entered the ring.

“Mummy were you watching? Did you also hear when they played your favorite song? I wanted you around that was why I asked for that song,” she wrote.

She expressed gratitude to Balmoral Promotions and Bet9ja for the chance, calling the experience unforgettable.
