Nollywood actor and comedian Adeshina "Janmole" Oshin has passed away in a road accident. His death has left colleagues, fans, and the Yoruba movie industry in deep sorrow.
This tragic news comes just days after the death of veteran actor Fesogboye Oyewole. It marks another sad moment for Nollywood.
Bolaji Amusan, known as Mr Latin, who is the President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), shared the news on Tuesday through an Instagram post.
Mr Amusan revealed that Janmole lost his life in a terrible auto crash, but details about the accident are still unclear.
"May the soul of our departed colleague, Adesina Okiki Janmole, who tragically lost his life in an accident, rest in perfect peace.
“May God grant his family, friends, and colleagues the strength and comfort to bear this irreparable loss. He will be greatly missed. Amen," he wrote.
Actor Olaiya Akinyemi also confirmed the news, posting a video from the accident scene on his Instagram page.
The video showed a damaged 18-seater bus that was reportedly carrying Janmole at the time of the crash.
"Inalilah Wainalilahi Rojihuna. This is sad. Rest in peace Adeshina Okiki Janmole," he wrote.
Janmole developed a love for acting while he was still in primary school. He officially joined the film industry in 1989 after finishing his primary education.
Initially, his parents were not in support of his acting career. They were concerned because he often hawked goods after school, and they thought acting was affecting his mother’s trading business.
In an interview with Feel Right News TV, Janmole said his parents later accepted his passion when they saw how dedicated he was.
Before acting, he trained in furniture making. His first on-screen appearance was in "Àsírí Ológbò." He later became well-known for the film "Jamonle," which he produced himself.
Janmole was the first child in his family and came from Kajola Local Government Area in Oyo State. His father worked as a retired non-teaching staff member in a secondary school.
He also trained in acting and film production for four years under veteran Yoruba actor Rasaq "Ojopagogo" Olayiwola.
He was known for playing funny characters, traditional village roles, and action-oriented roles in films.
Some of his popular movies include "Agunbaniro," "Ìyàwó Asante," "Ọgbọ́n Inu," and "Orogun Adedigba."
