Troops from the 12 Brigade of the Nigerian Army rescued 23 kidnap victims after an attack by suspected bandits on the Ayegunle, Bunu road in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area of Kogi.

This information came from an operational report shared with the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Abuja.

The report stated that the attack happened early on Monday morning. The attackers blocked the road and kidnapped several passengers.

According to the report, the troops from the 12 Brigade, stationed in Kabba, acted quickly after receiving a distress call. But by the time they arrived, the attackers had already fled.

When the troops reached the area, they found two dead bodies and five injured victims. They also discovered two abandoned Toyota commercial buses and a HOWO truck by the roadside.

The troops started pursuit operations along the routes the kidnappers took, which led to the rescue of 23 passengers. These victims had been left behind due to the pressure from the troops.

The injured victims were taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Kabba for treatment.

Efforts continue to find the fleeing criminals and rescue any remaining victims.
