Troops of the Nigerian Army have saved five people who were kidnapped. They were left behind by terrorists running away from military operations in Kogi State.
Hassan Abdullahi, the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations for the 12 Brigade, shared this news in a statement on Tuesday.
Abdullahi mentioned that the victims were found along the Oshokoshoko-Adankolo route in Adankolo Forest.
“Vigilant troops intercepted five kidnapped victims who had been abandoned by the terrorists while fleeing from the intense military pressure mounted on their camps,” Abdullahi said.
He explained that the rescue happened after recent ground and air operations targeted terrorist hideouts in forest areas of the state.
The army spokesperson said early findings showed the victims were freed after the terrorists scattered due to ongoing military attacks on their camps.
The victims were taken to safety, moved to a military hospital for care, and questioned to gather information that could help ongoing operations.
“The victims were immediately secured by the troops and evacuated from the forest to a safe location for further assessment and care,” he stated.
Abdullahi added that efforts were being made to reunite the victims with their families after finishing medical and administrative steps.
