Nigerian-American boxer Emeka Nwokolo is set to defend his WBA-NABA super welterweight title for the third time. He will fight Argentina’s Jonathan Sanchez on Saturday, October 10, at Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.
This 10-round fight is part of the “Champions of Tomorrow” event organized by KO Productions and Red Boxing.
Undefeated boxer Julius “JuJu” Ballo will headline the night. Jonny Mansour will also compete in the co-main event. Doors open at 5pm, with the first fight starting at 6pm. Fans can watch the event live on Adrenaline TV. Tickets are priced between $85 and $200.
Nwokolo, known as “Lion Heart 7o7”, is 33 years old. He has 17 wins and only one loss, with 14 of those wins coming by knockout. He is the son of Nigerian boxing legend Charles Nwokolo and holds multiple titles. These include the WBF International, UBO International, American Boxing Federation, and UBO world titles, making him a five-belt champion.
He made a comeback in June after a year-long injury break. He defeated Britain’s Darren Hamilton in the third round at the Motor City Casino in Detroit, Michigan.
During that fight, he knocked Hamilton down twice. The second knockdown ended the match. This win was his first since July 2025 when he kept his title with a unanimous decision over Jose Luis Sanchez in Temecula, California.
After beating Hamilton, Nwokolo expressed his desire to defend his title next.
“I want to defend my belt, defend my title in the ring. My opponents are running from me, and I have not gotten any challengers, but I remain in wait for them,” he said.
Now, he will face Sanchez, nicknamed “Chucaro”. Sanchez comes from Puerto Madryn in Argentina. He has 27 wins, eight losses, and one draw, with 13 of his wins by knockout. This fight will be his first in the United States.
