Oba Femi to lead WWE main event this Sunday

Nigerian wrestler, Isaac Odugbesan, known as Oba Femi in the ring, will be the main event at WWE’s Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6 in Atlanta. He will face Bron Breakker in a match that will decide who is the next big star in WWE.

This showdown started on Raw when Breakker sought out Femi after saying he wanted to confront him directly. Paul Heyman was the first to appear, followed by Femi. Their conversation quickly focused on one issue; who should be seen as WWE’s future.

Femi confidently claimed that title, while Breakker was eager to resolve it right away. But Heyman stepped in and suggested they have a well-promoted match instead of a quick TV fight. He also pointed out that Atlanta gives Breakker a home advantage.

This rivalry has roots in a significant moment at SummerSlam 2026. WWE legend, Brock Lesnar, raised Femi’s hand after losing to him. Many saw this as a passing of the torch.

Breakker, 28 years old, goes by the nickname ‘Unpredictable Badass’ and wants the same recognition as Femi. Analysts say this rivalry is building towards a major clash.

Breakker’s real name is Bronson Rechsteiner. He is the son of WWE Hall of Famer, Rick Steiner. He is also one half of the current World Tag Team Champions, The Vision Alliance, along with Austin Theory and Paul Heyman. This comes after his teammate Logan Paul suffered a tricep injury.

He joined WWE in 2021, spent three years in NXT, and made it to the main roster in 2024. Breakker is a two-time WWE Intercontinental Champion and a two-time World Tag Team Champion. In 2022, readers of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter named him Rookie of the Year.

Drake Riggs, a combat sports writer for Uncrowned, said Breakker is focused on surpassing Femi’s status in WWE.

“Bron Breakker is still fully fixated on Oba Femi, and he seems to think Femi has taken his spot as the future of the company. They look set for a collision soon.

“But WWE needs to get that tag title off Breakker and remove him from The Vision. They are not helping him at all,” Riggs said.
