Galatasaray got some good news on Tuesday as their star striker Victor Osimhen returned to training. This comes just in time for their home match against Kasımpaşa in the Trendyol Süper Lig Week 7 on Friday.
In a post on Galatasaray’s X account on Wednesday, the Nigerian player, who has been out with a groin injury, joined his teammates for part of the training session. They practiced at the Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities under the watchful eye of head coach Okan Buruk.
Osimhen participated in the early part of the workout before switching to a special programme designed by the club’s medical team. He is focused on getting back to full fitness.
The training kicked off with a warm-up. After that, the players split into three groups for some 8v2 passing drills. They then worked on possession exercises before wrapping up with a small-sided game.
Midfielder Mario Lemina and goalkeeper Günay Güvenç took part in the full training session. This is a positive sign for the team as they prepare for their next match.
On the other hand, defenders Wilfried Singo and Roland Sallai are still on their own recovery plans. They are working to heal from their injuries away from the main group.
Osimhen’s return to training is a hopeful sign for Galatasaray. But the club will likely be careful with him as he builds his fitness back up.
The 27-year-old is being monitored closely for a possible return against Kasımpaşa at Rams Park on October 9. After this match, Galatasaray will have another important challenge when they host Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League four days later.
The team will continue their preparations for the Kasımpaşa match with another training session set for Wednesday at 17:00.
