Osimhen Misses Match as Galatasaray Names Team Against Sporting

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is not in Galatasaray’s starting lineup for Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League match against Sporting CP. The game will take place at the Estádio José Alvalade.

Osimhen is missing this match because of an injury. He suffered an adductor problem during Galatasaray's recent league game against Başakşehir. He was also not included in the squad that traveled for this game.

Galatasaray's manager, Okan Buruk, decided to start Barış Alper Yılmaz in the attack. Leroy Sané, Aleksey Batrakov, and Yunus Akgün will support him in the front.

Osimhen is not the only key player absent. Mario Lemina and Wilfried Singo are also out due to injuries.

The Galatasaray XI is: Uğurcan Çakır; Roland Sallai, Davinson Sánchez, Ismail Jakobs, Eren Elmalı; Lucas Torreira, Gabriel Sara; Leroy Sané, Aleksey Batrakov, Yunus Akgün; Barış Alper Yılmaz.

PUNCH Online reported that Osimhen and Trabzonspor forward Paul Onuachu might miss Nigeria’s first 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau later this month because of their injuries.
