Osimhen scores two goals again as Galatasaray wins big

Victor Osimhen is having a fantastic start to the new Süper Lig season. He scored two goals and assisted another as defending champions Galatasaray beat newly promoted Erzurumspor FK 4-0 at the Kazım Karabekir Stadium on Friday. This performance shows he is one of the most reliable forwards on the continent.

Roland Sallai scored the first goal in the twelfth minute. Eight minutes later, Osimhen set up Yunus Akgün to make it 2-0 for Galatasaray.

Osimhen then added his name to the score sheet just before half-time. He scored in first-half stoppage time, putting Galatasaray ahead by three goals at the break. He finished his night with another goal in the 80th minute to complete his brace.

With these two goals and an assist against Erzurumspor, Osimhen has now been involved in at least one goal in his last fourteen league matches for Galatasaray. During this run, he has scored sixteen goals and provided six assists, totaling 21 goal involvements. His performance was outstanding, highlighting his ability to score and create chances for his teammates.

The 27-year-old has been on a roll, having scored twice in Galatasaray’s opening match, a 2-2 draw against another newly promoted side, Çorum, at RAMS Park last week. His goals helped secure a point after the champions lost their lead when Alexandros Kyziridis of Çorum was sent off.

Osimhen's goal-scoring form in Turkey has caught the attention of the Premier League. Arsenal has started talks with Galatasaray about signing the striker, according to French outlet Foot Mercato. The English champions want a reliable scorer to compete with Viktor Gyokeres and give Mikel Arteta more attacking choices.

Last season, Osimhen had 30 goal involvements for Galatasaray, making him a favorite of the Arsenal manager. His strong start this season seems to be making Arsenal more interested in him.

Negotiations are still in the early stages. The two sides are not close on personal terms. Osimhen currently makes a net annual salary of €20 million at Galatasaray and is under contract until 2029. Arsenal might not match that salary unless Osimhen is ready to take a pay cut to make the move to the Premier League.
