The Osun State Police Commissioner, Ibrahim Zungura, has ordered police teams to raid suspected criminal hideouts in Osogbo. This follows a recent increase in cult violence in the state capital.

The order came after suspected cultists shot a man named Rasak Wahab, known as 'Ojo Iku,' in the Arowomole area of Osogbo on Sunday.

Sources say the shooting happened on Sunday morning. They believe the attackers are from a rival cult group.

A video from the scene shows Wahab covered in blood, being carried away by a man whose name is not known yet. People at the scene said Wahab had been shot by cultists.

The Police Public Relations Officer for Osun State, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the shooting in a statement on Sunday. He said Wahab is receiving treatment at a hospital, but he did not disclose which one.

Ojelabi stated, "On 4th October 2026, some suspected cultists attacked the Arowomole area of Osogbo, and Rasak Wahab, aka 'Ojo Iku,' was shot. He was quickly taken to a hospital and is now responding to treatment."

This incident happened just two days after two people died in cult clashes in Owo-Eba Community, Osogbo. The victims were identified as Adebayo Taoreed, also known as 'Small Rugged,' and Oluwaseyi Daniel, called 'OSHA.' Several others were injured in those clashes.

Ojelabi reported that the Commissioner of Police has instructed all tactical teams to move to the Oke-Baale area of Osogbo. This area has seen a rise in cult-related activities, and the teams will stay there until things return to normal.

He mentioned that these teams should carry out raids based on intelligence. They will focus on known cult members, criminal hideouts, and other locations linked to crime.

Ojelabi added that cases related to the incidents have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation.

The CP has also told area commanders, divisional police officers, and tactical commanders to increase patrols. They need to gather useful information and maintain a strong presence in areas known for crime in the city.

The police assured residents of Osogbo and the state that they are managing the security situation. They encouraged people to go about their daily activities without fear.

The police also warned cult groups, their members, sponsors, and supporters that there will be no safe place for anyone involved in cult violence or crime.

They urged parents, community leaders, and the public to report any suspicious activities, cult meetings, or criminal hideouts that could disturb the peace.

Lastly, the police asked residents to stay calm and avoid sharing unverified information that could cause panic. They promised to protect lives and property in the state.
