The All Progressives Congress in Oyo State is feeling hopeful about winning the 2027 general elections. This optimism comes after party leaders and members have worked on settling their differences.
On Tuesday, the party announced that it is confident about its candidates winning. They noticed that the efforts to fix internal issues are starting to show good results.
This information was shared in a statement by Olawale Sadare, the Publicity Secretary, in Ibadan, the state capital.
Sadare said, “Our eyes have been on the ball as our main goal is about winning, at least, a million votes for President Tinubu in the January poll and also making sure that all the candidates of APC are returned elected in the 2027 general elections.
A significant moment happened on Monday. Former Senate Leader and the APC's governorship candidate in the 2023 elections, Senator Teslim Folarin, spoke up. He told his supporters to join him in working with others to ensure APC wins Oyo in 2027.
Sadare added, “Fortunately, our chances just got better with the attainment of a high level of success in our desire to bring about total unity and peace to the progressive family in the Pacesetters State.”
The party believes its reconciliation efforts are progressing thanks to President Bola Tinubu's leadership. They say he has played a big part in easing tensions among party members.
The statement said, “President Bola Tinubu, who, according to APC, has again brought his unique leadership competence, character and experience to bear in calming all the frayed nerves in our great Party.”
They noted, “Having acknowledged the inevitability of post-primary crisis, we moved ahead of time to float different committees of notable stakeholders and credible persons to drive our reconciliation campaign, and we were able to get the desired results.”
Sadare continued, “But the best results were achieved through the intervention of our national leader, President Tinubu, who has been able to wade in and convince some aggrieved gladiators of the need to bury the hatchet and work for APC success at the polls.”
With strong support from leaders like Senator Folarin, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, and Chief Adebayo Adelabu, the party feels ready for victory.
Sadare concluded, “Nevertheless, we are not going to rest on our laurels in our quest to have everyone on board. The reconciliation efforts shall continue even as our candidates continue to engage the electorate and sell the Renewed Hope Agenda as well as the Oyo AHEAD Project of Senator Sharafadeen Alli to the citizenry.”
PUNCH Online reports that Folarin publicly showed his support for the party's governorship candidate, Senator Sharafadeen Alli, on Monday. This happened at a gathering just after he returned to Ibadan from a trip abroad.
