Oyo State Receives New Table Tennis Hall from NTTF President

In a significant move for table tennis in Oyo State, Adesoji Tayo, the chairman of the Oyo State Table Tennis Association and president of the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation, has handed over a multi-million naira table tennis hall to the state government.

The handover event took place on Monday, September 21, at the Lekan Salami Stadium in Ibadan. Tayo shared his happiness about seeing the project completed.

Tayo referred to the facility as a legacy for future players. He wants to nurture talent, build champions, and leave a mark on the sport.

"It is not about infrastructure to me but about the legacy one is leaving behind," he stated.

He added, "This hall will serve as a place where players can train, showcase their talent, and aim for the podium. We have four world-class tables and flooring that will remain in top condition for at least ten years. I believe another Aruna Quadri or Waheed Ekun will be discovered here."

The Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Wasilat Adegoke, expressed deep appreciation on behalf of the government. She promised that the facility would be "adequately and religiously maintained," and noted that Governor Seyi Makinde was aware of the donation.

"To say we are grateful is an understatement," she said.

Adegoke added, "This gesture will undoubtedly boost the performance of our athletes at both national and international levels."

She encouraged other good-spirited Nigerians to follow Tayo's lead by supporting sports development in any way they can.

Mrs. Olabisi Adegoke, the General Manager of the Oyo State Sports Council, also praised the donor. She urged athletes to use the hall only for its intended purpose. She highlighted the importance of coaches in training players properly so that the facility reaches its full potential.
