The Peoples Democratic Party has urged Nigerians to learn from the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad. They want people to promote peace, justice, tolerance, and harmony across the nation.
The party shared this message in a Maulud statement on Tuesday. Mr Jungudo Mohammed, the National Publicity Secretary, issued the message as Muslims in Nigeria and around the world celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet.
The PDP believes this occasion is a chance for Muslims and all Nigerians to think about the values shown in the Prophet’s life. These include compassion, honesty, justice, and love for humanity.
The party pointed out that these values are still important for the challenges Nigeria faces. They should guide both citizens and leaders in working towards a more united and prosperous country.
“Maulud Nabi is a significant occasion for Muslims to reflect on the life, teachings and exemplary character of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW), whose message of peace, justice, compassion, honesty and love for humanity continues to inspire generations,” the statement said.
The opposition party encouraged Nigerians to take this time to strengthen national unity. They want people to deepen mutual respect among one another, no matter their religion, ethnicity, or political beliefs.
“At this special time, the PDP urges Nigerians to draw from these timeless virtues by promoting unity, tolerance, mutual respect and peaceful coexistence,” the statement added.
This message comes at a time when there are ongoing worries about insecurity, political strife, and social divides in the country. Many are calling for more national unity and responsible leadership.
The PDP also asked for prayers for peace and stability in the nation. They called for divine guidance for political and public office holders at every level.
The party stated that Nigeria’s leaders need wisdom and courage to do their jobs in ways that support justice, fairness, and good governance.
“The party also calls on Nigerians to offer prayers for peace and stability in our country, and for divine guidance for our leaders at all levels as they discharge their responsibilities to the people,” the party said.
The PDP prayed for the acceptance of Nigerians’ prayers and for the strengthening of their faith. They expressed hope for a country where justice, fairness, and good governance are the norm.
They ended their message by wishing Muslims a peaceful and spiritually fulfilling Maulud Nabi celebration.
