The National Treasurer of the Peoples Democratic Party, Diran Odeyemi, has said that the partnership between the PDP and the Accord Party in Osun State finished with the governorship election on August 15.
Odeyemi also announced that the party’s candidates for the upcoming general elections are ready to start their campaign activities for the polls.
He confirmed that the current lawmaker for Osun Central Senatorial District, Olubiyi Fadeyi, will be the PDP candidate for the Osun Central senatorial district in the 2027 elections. He urged party members to rally support for him.
This information was shared in a statement signed by Fadeyi and received by our reporter in Osogbo, Osun State, on Friday.
During the previous governorship election in Osun, Odeyemi explained that the PDP used its network to support Governor Ademola Adeleke, who ran under the Accord Party.
Talking about the PDP’s plans for the 2027 general election, Odeyemi said, "The agreement between the party and Accord ended with the Governorship election and now the party is ready to support and work for Senator Ajagunla during the 2027 poll."
He added, "In the Osun Central Senatorial District, Senator Olubiyi Fadeyi Ajagunla is our Candidate and the PDP will Campaign and work with him. The arrangement we had with Accord in Osun has ended with Governor Adeleke’s election."
Odeyemi went on to say, "Gani Olaoluwa, the Accord Party Senatorial candidate for Osun Central is my very good friend. I have nothing against him, but this is a party affair. I have been informed as the National Treasurer of the PDP to deliver for the party."
The PUNCH reports that Fadeyi, who was previously in the APC, recently announced he is back in the PDP during a phone interview with our reporter. He stated, "I am back in the PDP led by the FCT Minister, His Excellency, Nyesom Wike. I have already written to the Senate."
He also said, "I can confirm to you that I am the candidate for Osun Central Senatorial District for the 2027 Senate election."
In his letter to the Senate, Fadeyi explained his decision to leave the APC, citing the way the 2027 National Assembly primary for Osun Central was handled by the Osun APC.
