Police arrest man for kidnapping and abusing five girls in Edo

The Edo State Police Command has arrested a man named Mohammed Abdulramah. He claimed to be a military officer during a recent operation in the state.

Also, a 50-year-old man, Nicholas Nusa, was arrested for allegedly abducting and sexually abusing five young girls in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area.

Eno Ikoedem, the spokesperson for the Command, shared this news on Monday. The statement was on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Patrick Daaor. It mentioned that one kidnapper was killed, another arrested, and a suspect was caught for car theft, among other arrests made.

The statement said the suspect was traveling from Warri in Delta State to Okene in Kogi State. It added that he stole a uniform from a Naval officer based in Niger State.

In the past week, the police command has arrested ten suspects for violent crimes. They also neutralized one suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle, among other items.

The statement continued, "On 16th September 2026, at about 14:00 hours, personnel of 195 Battalion, Agenebode, stationed at Okpella, arrested Mohammed Manfred Abdulramah, 32, from Okene, Kogi State. He was caught along the Auchi, Okene Expressway for suspected impersonation.

"The suspect was traveling from Warri to Okene, dressed in military camouflage trousers and a camouflage vest. During the police investigation, it was found that he is not a military member and had stolen the uniform from a Navy officer based in Niger State. Preliminary investigations are ongoing."

The statement added, "On 12th September 2026, the Command got information about the alleged abduction of five girls from the Ibillo/Imoga area of Akoko Edo Local Government. Nicholas Nusa, the 50-year-old suspect, was arrested after police intervention.

"Preliminary investigations showed that the children were sexually abused. He got one of them pregnant, and she went into early labor. Sadly, the victim lost the baby after surgery. The children have been returned to their families. The suspects will be charged in court after investigations are complete.

The Commissioner of Police said these operations show the Command’s ongoing commitment to policing based on intelligence. They respond quickly and chase down those involved in kidnapping, violent crimes, sexual offenses, and other criminal activities in the state.

He added that recovering stolen vehicles, arresting suspects, and disrupting criminal activities show the Command is serious about catching criminals. They will keep using all available resources to protect lives and property.

He urged the public to stay alert and report credible information to the police. He assured that no effort would be spared to bring criminals to justice and ensure everyone’s safety and security.
