Police arrest man for killing his father in Katsina

The Katsina State Police have arrested a 27-year-old man named Sada Tambai. He is accused of killing his 80-year-old father, Adamu Tambai, in Mundadu Village, Bindawa Local Government Area.

This information was shared in a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police Abubakar Sadiq. The statement was given to newsmen on Saturday in Katsina.

The incident happened on September 21, 2026. The police got a distress call from the District Head of Bindawa, Dan Yusufan Katsina. He reported that the elderly man, who used to be the Ward Head of Mundadu Village, was found lying dead in front of his house.

Police quickly sent detectives to the scene. They took the victim to the nearest hospital for help. But sadly, the doctors declared the man dead when he arrived at the hospital.

"Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of the deceased’s son, Sada Tambai (27). During interrogation, the suspect confessed to hitting his father on the head with a stick, which caused his fatal injuries," the police said.

The police have moved the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department for more investigation. The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Command, CP Ali Fage, has ordered a careful and thorough investigation into the matter.

The police also stated that the suspect will face court after the investigation is complete. They expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased. The police assured the public that they are determined to ensure justice is served.
