The Yobe State Police have arrested three men for allegedly working together to steal farm equipment.

They also found some stolen items, which included two water pump generators and ten solar panels.

The suspects were caught for stealing from the Duhuwu Nima farm area in Bursari Local Government Area.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Adamu Aliyu, shared the news in a statement on Friday in Damaturu.

The statement said that the Garin Alkali Divisional Police Headquarters got a distress call on October 21, 2026. It was about Musa Mohammed, a 40-year-old from Garin Alkali town, who was caught by some people on a farm near Tarabutu Village for stealing farm tools.

“After we got the report, our detectives were sent to the scene. They took the suspect into custody for further investigation,” the statement said.

During questioning, the police found out that Mohammed had teamed up with two others, Mohammed Baki from Gashua and Haruna Wakil Sano, known as Kogi, to steal from farms in the Duhuwu Nima area.

The suspects reportedly sold the stolen equipment to Adamu Abubakar from Bade Local Government Area.

“Based on this information, our detectives tracked down and arrested the buyer. A search at his home led to the recovery of items suspected to be stolen, including two water pump generators, discharge and suction hoses, two gas cylinders, and ten solar panels,” the police said.

The police added that Kogi, who was initially on the run, was arrested on October 22 during follow-up operations. He also admitted to his involvement in the crime.

“Efforts are ongoing to catch the other suspect, and investigations are still in progress,” the statement said.

The Commissioner of Police for Yobe State, CP Usman Kanfani Jibrin, praised the officers for recovering the stolen items and arresting the suspects.

He urged farmers and the public to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.

“The Command promises to protect lives and property and warns against crime, especially the theft of farm equipment that harms farmers and their work,” the statement said.

The police also called on the public to share timely and credible information to help in preventing and solving crimes.
