Police Caution Cultists Against Planned Protest in Osun

The Osun State Police Command has issued a warning about a planned protest linked to a group called the "Congress of Cultists." This group is said to be connected to the Neo-Black Movement, also known as Black Axe.

In a statement released on Sunday, police spokesperson Abiodun Ojelabi described the group as faceless. The police have intelligence suggesting its ties to the cult group.

The police warned anyone thinking of causing trouble, disrupting public peace, or engaging in criminal acts to think again.

"The police and other security agencies will not fold their hands and allow miscreants to use any opportunity to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere and destruction of lives and properties."

"Our operatives will respond decisively and appropriately to any action capable of threatening the peace and security of the state," the statement added.

The command urged those with issues or disputes to seek legal ways to resolve them. They warned against violence, self-help, or revenge attacks.

This warning comes as the police investigate a recent killing in the state. They stated that some suspects linked to this case have been identified but are still at large.

"Meanwhile, a thorough and discreet investigation has commenced into the recent killing incident. The investigation has yielded useful leads, while some of the suspects identified in connection with the incident are currently at large. Efforts are ongoing to track them down and bring them to justice," the statement noted.

The command asked the public to provide any useful information about the killing. They assured that such information would be kept confidential.

They emphasized that they will keep working until all those involved in the incident are arrested and brought to justice.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Zungura, also urged parents, community leaders, traditional rulers, and religious leaders to advise youths in their areas against taking part in activities that could disrupt the state.

The police called on residents to stay calm, obey the law, and be alert. They encouraged people to report any suspicious activities or movements to the nearest police station or security agency.

The command said it is committed to protecting lives and property while maintaining peace and order throughout the state.
