The Delta State Police Command has taken a 63-year-old man, Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, to court. He is the owner of Prince Tarvan 50 Brothel. He faces charges for running a brothel and for bringing women and girls into prostitution.

The police announced this in a statement on Wednesday. The statement was signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe. This follows a raid that targeted known criminal spots in Asaba on Saturday, 4 July 2026.

According to the statement, Ojokwu is one of 30 people charged. This comes after 202 people were arrested in the operation. The Deputy Commissioner of Police, in charge of Operations, led the raid.

The police said the raid focused on brothels, black spots, and suspected drug dens in Asaba and nearby areas. This was based on reliable information from the State Intelligence Department.

“After preliminary investigations, one hundred and seventy-two suspects were screened and released without charge,” the statement said.

Ojokwu was taken to the Asaba Magisterial District court for allowing his premises to be used as a brothel and for procuring women and girls for prostitution. These crimes fall under Sections 224 and 223 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C21, Vol. I, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

The other 29 suspects face charges for actions that could disturb the peace and for having illegal drugs, according to the police.

CP Yemi Oyeniyi, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, emphasized the command’s promise to follow through with thorough investigations and prosecutions where needed.

He warned people running illegal businesses to stop activities that disturb public peace and safety. He added that the police will keep carrying out intelligence-led operations to clean up the state of criminals.
