Police confirm murder of Enugu APC leader

The police in Enugu State have confirmed the murder of a well-known politician, Prince Ikechukwu Oloto, also called “Okanga Mo,” in Nsukka.

On Friday, the police spokesperson, SP Daniel Ndukwe, answered questions about the case. He said Oloto was discovered in a pool of blood with serious machete cuts to his head and stomach.

Ndukwe stated, “Investigation is ongoing to find out what happened to Ikechukwu Oloto, male, about 53 years old, in Nsukka.

“The police received a report on September 17, 2026, at about 5:45 p.m., that he had been found in a pool of blood in his home. Police officers quickly responded and found him with deep suspected machete cuts to his head and stomach.

“He was taken to a hospital, where the doctor confirmed he was dead. His body was moved to a mortuary for preservation and autopsy, while a manhunt has started for the attacker(s).”

Oloto was from Nsukka Local Government Area. Reports say he was attacked in his home at Odenigbo, Nsukka, on Thursday evening.

Several sources mentioned that the politician was killed during the attack. However, the details around his death are still unclear.

There are also unverified claims on social media that the attackers used a knife in the murder.
