The Adamawa State Police have arrested two men for armed robbery in the Yola-North Local Government Area.

In a statement on Tuesday, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police spokesman, said that officers from Doubeli Divisional Police Headquarters made the arrests in connection with different robbery cases.

"On 3rd June 2026, police operatives arrested one Idris Auwal, 22 years old, who lives at Doubeli Culvert in Yola North," the statement said.

The statement explained that investigations showed that Auwal worked with three other people who are still on the run. They broke into a shop at Nassarawo Borehole owned by Abdullahi Sunusi.

The suspects stole a bag filled with cash, important papers, and various shop items, though the total value remains unknown.

"Thanks to thorough investigation, Idris Auwal was caught, while efforts continue to find the other suspects," the statement said.

Second Arrest

In another case on 5th June 2026, Doubeli Division operatives arrested a suspected member of a gang known as Shilla. This gang is known for attacking and robbing innocent people.

The suspect reportedly confronted Abubakar Abdullahi along Doubeli Bypass, armed with a cutlass. He robbed Abdullahi of an Itel mobile phone and N19,000," the statement said.

It was noted that the suspect injured Abdullahi on the head with the cutlass during the robbery.

The statement added, "Fortunately, police acted quickly, arrested the suspect, and made sure the victim got immediate medical help."

The police recovered a cutlass, a knife, and the stolen phone from the suspect.

Nguroje mentioned that both suspects are being investigated. He also said that police are working hard to capture other members of the gang and bring them to justice.

The Command assured the public of its dedication to fighting Shilla gang activities and all forms of crime.

"We encourage residents to keep giving the police timely and useful information to help improve safety and security in the area," he stated.
