A man just avoided being killed by a mob after people accused him of taking part in a suspected one-chance robbery in Rivers State.
The whole thing was caught on video and shared on Instagram on Sunday. It is said that the suspect was accused of stealing a young woman’s phone while they were both in a commercial bus.
Eyewitnesses said a group of young men caught the suspect and beat him up before police arrived at the scene.
The police quickly stepped in, arrested the suspect, put handcuffs on him, and took him away from the angry crowd for further questioning.
The quick actions of the police stopped the suspect from being killed by the crowd.
So far, the police have not released any official statement about the incident or confirmed the claims against the suspect.
